Black Lapel Return Policy (Flawless Fit Promise)

Custom-Made Means No Traditional Returns

Every Black Lapel garment is made-to-order—crafted specifically for you from the fabric you choose, cut to your measurements, and finished by hand.

Because of this, we don’t accept returns like a traditional retailer (no “try it for a week and send it back”).

But you’re not stuck with something that isn’t right.

That’s exactly why we offer our Flawless Fit Promise.


The Flawless Fit Promise

If your garment isn’t fitting the way it should, we’ll make it right.

Our Flawless Fit Promise means we’ll support you with alterations or remakes until you’re satisfied, following the guidelines below.


Alterations & Remakes (What You Need To Know)

60-Day Request Window (Required)

To be eligible under the Flawless Fit Promise, all alteration and remake requests must be submitted within 60 days of delivery.

Requests made after 60 days may not be eligible for complimentary coverage.


Alterations

Most fit refinements can be handled quickly by a local tailor. If your item needs minor adjustments, we’ll:

  • Review your fit feedback and photos

  • Recommend the right tailoring updates

  • Coordinate reimbursement or coverage when approved

Alterations must be approved by Black Lapel prior to tailoring to qualify for coverage.


Remakes

Sometimes, alterations aren’t the best solution—especially when the issue is more structural (balance, posture, shoulder shape, etc.).

In those cases, we may authorize a full or partial remake using updated pattern adjustments so your garment fits the way it was always supposed to.

Remakes must be reviewed and approved by our team before production begins.


What’s Covered Under the Flawless Fit Promise

We’re happy to help with issues related to:

  • Fit (too tight, too loose, incorrect balance, length issues outside tolerance)

  • Construction or workmanship

  • Pattern refinements needed to deliver the correct silhouette and comfort


What’s Not Covered

To keep the Flawless Fit Promise consistent and fair, the following are not eligible:

  • Requests submitted after 60 days

  • Changes in fit due to weight fluctuation or body changes after delivery

  • Style changes unrelated to fit (e.g., “I changed my mind on slim vs classic”)

  • Normal wear and tear, damage, or staining after delivery

  • Any alterations performed without prior approval


Final Sale Items

Items marked Final Sale, Clearance, or Sample are not eligible for alterations or remakes unless explicitly stated otherwise.


How to Use the Flawless Fit Promise

Complete a Fit Assessment Request, or Email us at Concierge@BlackLapel.com with:

  1. A quick description of the issue

  2. Clear photos (front / side / back)

  3. Any notes on what feels off (tightness, pulling, extra fabric, etc.)

We’ll take it from there—quickly, personally, and with a real human on the other end.
